This race will take place in one of the most beautiful and wild landscapes on the planet, in the “Ring of Fire” of the Chilean Andes. The best athletes in the world will paddle through crystal-clear rivers and lakes, climb great mountains, and above all, conquer the summit of one of the impressive volcanoes in the area. The course will take them through ancient araucaria forests and perhaps across some of the magnificent existing glaciers.

History of Vulcania Adventure Race

In 2022, Chile hosted the first South American final of adventure races. The last chapter of the South American circuit was written in the Ring of Fire of the Chilean Andes, one of the most volcanically active regions on the planet, with nearly 2000 volcanoes spread throughout its territory and over 4000 km in length. This race took place in the triangle of the three giant sentinels of Pucón: the active Villarrica Volcano, the dormant Quetrupillán Volcano, and the largest crater in South America, the Sollipulli volcanic complex. These volcanoes witnessed the passage of South American adventurers in search of the coveted and elusive finish line.

In 2024, we held our first Level 1 Qualifying Race of the AWRS. This race took place in Pucón as the base. The Villarrica Lake was the backdrop for the adventurers, who then visited the slopes of the active Villarrica Volcano, biking through vast labyrinths of paths that led them to the foot of the Quetrupillan Volcano. They then trekked to its summit amid an active storm of rain and snow, where they had to cross a glacier 2 kilometers wide located within the crater, in search of the checkpoints towards the Lanín Volcano, which they crossed on its snowy slopes under the storm, marveling at its imposing height and beautiful views. They completed the final stage on their bicycles towards Caburgua Lake and headed to the finish line in Pucón. A true expedition and wild adventure.

Includes transportation from Temuco Airport to Curacautín and return. Does not include accommodation.

• Phase 1 – June to September 30: $2,750 USD

• Phase 2 – October 1 to December 31: $3,000 USD

Does not include transportation or accommodation.

Important

For teams with Type A registration, the organization will provide transportation service from Temuco Airport to Lonquimay on March 5-6, 2026, according to flight arrival times. The return from Lonquimay to the airport will be according to each team’s requirement, coordinated with the organization.

Any other arrival day will be at the expense of each team.

Refund Policy

50% refund of the amount paid until December 31, 2025. After that date, no refund.
